Oils vs. Young Living - Part 2
Mom, both new sisters-in-law
and I just got back from Dallas where we attended one
of David Stewart’s C.A.R.E. trainings. The sis-in-laws learned
for the first time to do the raindrop technique and I picked-up
some great information concerning the chemistry of essentials
oils. There was lots of evidence to validate the “aromatic
warrior” approach advocated by Gary Young. There is SO much
more freedom available to those of us who use Young Living
essential oils versus those who are intimidated and scared
because they choose to live in a paradigm of adulterated, diluted
and non-therapeutic oils. I will incorporate information from
this meeting into future newsletters.

For now, I will highlight some
other reasons I proudly tell the world about Young Living.
You should have received the August/September 2003 “convention” issue
of Young Living’s Essential Edge magazine within the last week
or two. On the cover is Gary in knight’s armor holding up the hand of pregnant Mary
with Jacob, their 3-year-old firstborn, standing triumphantly
between. Inside, Gary announces that he will soon be the father of twins.
Before I elaborate on that, those
of you on my team will want to pay special attention to Jean-Marie Hepworth Friedmann’s story on page
8 and the highlight of Marcella Vonn Harting on page 10. Both of these women are in your upline.
Now, concerning Mary being pregnant
with twins... Gary isn’t trumpeting the details himself, so I’ll add my
own emphasis to this “milestone.” Gary was age 50 when Jacob was born. And Jacob was Mary’s
first child...she was age 54! Now, at age 57, Mary is expecting
with twins. (Update: Mary lost one of the twins early in the
pregnancy.)
When describing this to people,
I’ve been somewhat taken aback by the responses. Instead of
looking at the situation with admiration, they are usually
aghast. The typical concern is how old Gary and Mary will be
when the kids are in high school, getting married and beyond.
Folks, those who refuse give-up
sugar, hormone-filled milk and meat, pre-packaged manufactured “food” embalmed
on supermarket shelves, and the other things typical of the
Standard American Diet (SAD) are justified in making plans
to be sickly from age 60 and dead at age 80. I assure you that
Gary and Mary have chosen a different path...one that has more
in common with what we read in the Bible rather than what is
practiced in the typical American church. If they had chosen
to be “normal,” Gary would have been dead long ago and Mary would be on
HRT--or possibly womb-less--as a way of dealing with the “horrors” of
lifestyle-and diet-induced menopause.
I fully expect Gary and Mary
to live to 120 years and beyond and to actively play with their
grandchildren. I expect their kids to have more vibrant parents
for a longer period of time than most American kids. Tell me
of any other nutrition- or health-oriented company where its
leaders are setting this kind of example!
But that’s just a start. Last
year, Gary won the Mr. Utah bodybuilding championship for his
age group. So did Mary. Remember, this is a man that spent
13 years learning to walk again after being paralyzed.
[If any of you women would like
to see a very stout Gary in Speedos, *grin* order
the 2002 Highlights and Education video (#3981) or DVD (#3993).
They cost just 2 bucks and, believe me, there is tons educational
stuff on this video/DVD...Super Deal!]
Gary competed again this year and only won second place. Bummer, huh? There’s more to the story. He had broken his
ankle two weeks earlier! The doctors told him he had a six
inch blood clot, insisted he give- up workouts and totally
forget any competition for 6 months. So I consider 2nd place
an extremely good accomplishment considering Gary was gritting his teeth in pain during every pose.
Having conquered that mountain,
bodybuilding has apparently become boring. While the ankle
was still healing, Gary was training for jousting. This summer, he placed 2nd
in the jousting world championships.
Bummer again? Well,
Gary who competed against guys half his age with twice his
training time. And jousting is a right-handed event. Gary is
left-handed. He had to learn to do this with his less-coordinated
arm and hand. The guy who won has never been “unseated.” He
now works for Young Living.
Do you understand why I have
little patience for other companies who try to capitalize on
the buzz Gary has generated concerning essential oils or who
try to tear Gary down because of jealousy? And why other nutrition/health-oriented
companies fail to hold my interest? Again, show me a company
with this kind of leader...someone this full of Life, this
real.
But Gary’s charisma and character alone are not enough for me
to put my reputation on the line with all of you. This newsletter
is all about providing evidence that Young Living is the Real
Deal.
This week I do so by spotlighting
a recent post from Young Living distributor Julie Chertow.
I met Julie when I attended my first raindrop training in Dallas with my mom and both brothers. Amazing experience!
1000 people, all interested in tapping into the healing aspect
of God. 250 massage tables. And my brothers and I could not
have been more fortunate *grin* than to get a vibrant, whimsical
young lady as facilitator...Julie Chertow. Shortly thereafter, the four of us were able to
get to know Julie a better at Young Living’s 2000 national
convention in Salt Lake City where Julie tagged us as “Mom and My Three Sons.”
Most recently, I ran into Julie
again at this year’s convention where she excitedly told me
that she was among the handful of people going to France. So it was with great interest that I read what she
and others wrote about the trip. With that introduction, I
hope to transfer a bit of my personal interest to you while
you read the reports below.
And this is still more validation
that, as Young Living distributors, you and I are involved
in something very special.
Have a great week!

Subject: Our experience in Simiane, France in the Lavender fields
Hello!
I have returned from France and Italy and what a most wonderful and inspiring time I had.
This letter came to me from my two new friends from Austria that were part of our team of 12 people that spent
the week with Gary Young in Simiane, France. It is so well described that I thought of passing this on to you so
you can get a taste of how it was for those of us who were
there.
For myself, it was so fantastic
to come full circle--from actually getting my hands into the
fields of lavender and Lavandin,
to experiencing the intensity of weeding many acres by hand
in that hot heat and then actually partaking in the distillation
process. And it was truly an absolute blessing to hear the
many stories directly from Gary Young and be able to ask questions
in such an intimate setting.
I can tell you all first hand
that without a doubt we truly have some of the best oils on
the planet and I don't say this lightly. As we toured other
distilleries and watched and learned, I saw that where lavender
originates from--even these 4th and 5th generation of lavender
distillers--only know about distillation for perfume and sachets
(which are very popular in France). It is a big business there. But they really do not
know of medicinal therapeutic properties and how to properly
distill for health and longevity purposes.
All I can say is Dr. Gary Young
is a man of absolute integrity with knowledge beyond what I
ever realized even after studying for 7 1/2 years with him.
I am inspired and am so very grateful to have been one of the
12 people to spend this kind of time in France with Gary. He is truly a powerful force in preserving the true
art of distillation and maintaining and
sharing his knowledge of many years of study, passing on to
the millions of people on the planet this very important wisdom.
This is wisdom that I feel we all need and I am completely
committed to passing on what I learn too.
I send you my love,
Julie
Dear Friends,
We are back from our traveling
to France for the harvest. For me, the Provence area where the lavender and Lavandin grows
is one of the most wonderful places on the planet. Perhaps
the Lavender and Lavandin growing
there have a vibrational healing
affect on the area and the people. The feeling is silent. This
year was unusually hot and dry so the plants matured early.
Most of the fields had been harvested before we arrived. The
area is hilly with small villages that go back hundreds of
years. The houses are built out of stone. We stayed in a house
that was renewed, and very old. (I was impressed with the spiral
staircase as I could see no means of support.) There were 12
of us, mostly from the states, 2 from Vienna. Gary Young was there, and not Mary as she is expecting
twins.
We had three training evenings
with Gary. The first was a talk about the importance of the health
of the liver. The second was on emotional release. And the
third was a demonstration of the Raindrop Technique. We also
had a 'field trip' where we drove around the area and saw where Gary first learned distillation from a master. And also
saw fields that had been full with lavender in the past decade,
and are no longer. True Lavender is dying out in France.
On a different day we visited
with the President of one of the largest Lavender Associations
in France. We also had a field trip and slide show with a botanist
who showed us in the wild how to tell the difference between
true Lavender and Lavandin. Lavandin is
a cross between true Lavender and spike Lavender that also
grows in the wild at a lower elevation. When the two cross-pollinate,
the result is Lavandin, which is sterile. It also grows in the wild. Cuttings
are taken from the Lavandin and when
the plants mature more cuttings are taken from those and grown
until a whole field of Lavandin is
produced. These plants are called clones. Lavandin produces
4 to 5 times the amount of oil as does true Lavender. And it
is relatively easy to alter with heat and added chemicals and
sell as 'Lavender.' Also it is difficult to detect. That is
why Gary has a 60-meter gas chromatography machine at Young
Living that is calibrated to the machine at France--the only calibrated machine in the U.S. Most companies that say that they are using gas chromatography
to test their oils are using a machine that is only 30 meters
long and designed for a varity of
substances, and is unsuitable for the complexities of essential
oils. Young Living has over a quarter of a million dollars
in test equipment and it is used for every batch of oil! Even
oil that is tested in France is re-tested at Young Living to assure quality. And Gary has a degree in operating and reading the gas chromatography
machine.
Back to the
Lavender Harvest. We
actually harvested Lavandin. It
is used in our blends of Purification and Release. (The Lavender
was planted this spring and needs two years to grow.) To
harvest the Lavandin we used a
machine that cut the Lavandin and
put it into small bales. We then loaded the small bales into
a wagon with pitch forks. We then drove to the distillery
and emptied the wagon into the distiller and packed it in,
closed the lid and flowed the steam in for one hour. In the
end we each got to dip our bottles into the new oil and have
our own personal sample of Lavandin. We were told that it needs to breath for
awhile, like a good wine. Then it can be used. This, I believe
is true of all essential oils.
We also spent a bit of time weeding
as Young Living uses no chemicals on their fields.
If you ever listen to a tape
of Gary speaking and you wonder if one man can accomplish what
he says he does, spend a few days in his presence. Then you
will see for yourself. He was in the fields often before we
were awake, and stayed up late each night teaching us. He experienced
no jet lag in coming from America. There are not many men on this planet like him. I
certainly am not. He is constantly giving of himself. I feel
privileged to have the opportunity to be a part of this company
and vision. Together we are working for true healing for ourselves
and the planet.
With Love,
Lars & Prakama

Subject: Re: looking
for rare oils
Okay, I have a question.
Has anyone *really* ever had
a quality experience with any other brand of essential oils?
Cause I have used essential oils for the better part of 15
years and only known about Young Living for the last 2 years. In the
previous 13 years, I never recommended using oils to ANYONE
because through all the various brands I tried I never had
any notable results to speak of. AND no one ever asked me "What
do I smell?" "What are you wearing?" I get that
all the time with Young Living. I read about all the uses for oils but
figured I must be beyond hope because I wasn't getting the
results that I was reading about until the first time I tried
Young Living. Since that time I have used no other oils but I have kept
some of my old ones so people can smell the difference. And
there's a BIG difference.
Peace,
Syrinx

I had a positive experience with
another brand of oil: I used peppermint to get rid of ants
and it worked. :) That would be the peppermint I didn't want
to use on myself but didn't want to waste. (chuckle,
chuckle)
