(Update: Since this newsletter, Young Living has come out with two wonderful
and healthy deodorants--Aromaguard Meadow Mist and Aromaguard Mountain Mint.
Many of us still prefer the Dentarome toothpaste.)
In a previous issue I mentioned that there are four organs/systems through
which the body expels toxins:
1. Skin
2. Bladder/Kidneys
3. Colon
4. Lungs
There is another that I failed to mention: the lymphatic system. This
is a network of fluid, ducts, and tissues which include the spleen, the thymus,
the tonsils and adenoids, and clusters of nodes throughout the body, especially
around the back of the neck, in the arm pits, around the breasts and in the
groin. The nodes filter out bacteria, fungus, virus, large proteins and even
cancer from a usually clear fluid (lymph) which flows through them. The lymphatic
system is similar to the circulatory system except that there is no pump.
Movement is the only thing that keeps the lymph moving through the system
so it can be filtered.
“Work” to earlier generations meant chopping wood, picking crops and cleaning
clothes on a washboard. It involved more movement than sitting at a desk
for eight hours a day. “Play” meant riding a horse, participating in a
three-legged race or exploring in the woods -- activities which involved
more movement
than playing video games or watching television. With that understanding,
do you think our lymphatic systems may be a little more stagnant and teaming
with bacteria, fungus, virus, and cancer than those of earlier generations?
Add to that the modern-day ritual of smearing or spraying our underarms with
toxic chemicals -- deodorants and antiperspirants -- and it sums up to the
ultimate assault and betrayal of our lymphatic systems.
Let’s consider antiperspirants first. Since we strive to be proper in our
modern society, I’d like to propose a new level of socially acceptable behavior:
men, stop the flow of your bladder everyday by tying a string around your
penis. Ladies, put a cork in it. This would save us from having to deal with
the stinky fluid that our body usually releases. We would smell so much better
and we’d save lots of time!
Sounds ridiculous doesn’t it? Yet this is exactly what we do to our lymph
system. We cut-off one of its main relief valves -- the
armpits. Rather than sweat them out, we choose to keep the bacteria,
fungus, virus, and cancer inside. It’s absolutely nuts!
So is deodorant okay? It’s definitely a big improvement. But consider what
our modern-day, socially accepted deodorants is made
of -- petrochemicals. So your body is able to expel toxins but you keep dumping
more in.
Caleb, are you telling me that I have to stink in order to be healthy?
Ah! So you admit your sweat stinks?! Do you know what you’ve just told me?
You’re full of toxins. The more rank you are, the more toxins your body is
dumping. BO is a symptom. If the only thing you do is seek to mask it with
something that smells better, you’re doing the equivalent of cutting the
wire to your car’s low-oil-warning light when it comes on. Fine. The
light is no longer shining, but there will be huge problems down the road
unless you take care of the issue about which the light is warning you.
Let’s compare the lymph system to the urinary system. Your urine is dark
and stinky -- full of toxins being dumped by the body -- f you’re cramming
your body full of unhealthy junk food and/or not urinating often. It’s clear
and odorless when you drink plenty of water -- the kidneys and bladder are
operating so efficiently that perhaps some of toxins in the other four eliminative
systems can be handed off to the bladder and kidneys for processing. The
same is true for the lymphatic system.
Below are testimonies from people who use Young Living’s Dentarome toothpaste
as a deodorant. You read right! Dentarome’s fresh
scent not only covers the BO, but because of it’s wonderful
and healthy essential oil ingredients, it actually assists the body in purging
toxins.
I had always used Speed Stick deodorant, then switched
to a Thai-type deodorant rock when I started realizing the problems of popular
deodorants. I used the Thai rock for about a year before starting Dentarome.
I suspected I was pretty “clean.” My experience was wonderful for a month
or two until I began to develop an itchy rash under my arms which looked
and felt like ringworm--the biggest circle being about the size of a quarter
under my left arm. I work at home so I would go a day or two without apply
Dentarome or anything else. When the rash calmed down enough, I would do
the Dentarome again for a day or two. This went on for about a month. One
day I awoke and could hardly stand to roll out of bed because my underarms
were so painful. Lifting my left arm was torture and there was a lump the
size of a June bug. Obviously I quit applying Dentarome...it was much too
painful to either lift my arm or to spread on the paste. The rash, lump and
pain went away in a week and I’ve been using Dentarome as a deodorant ever
since, probably two years, with no more rashes.
Was this an adverse reaction? Absolutely not! From as early as I can remember
there was always a knot in my left armpit. As a teenager, there were times
when I would cringe while applying the Speed Stick because the lump felt
so gross and weird...I knew it shouldn’t be there but had no idea what to
do about it...just figured it was something I had to live with. The lump
was gone after the painful week. In my opinion, Dentarome helped clean out
the lymph node that had been clogged pretty much all my life. One can imagine
what the lump would have turned into had it stayed.
Application: I squeeze a little (about half pea size) onto my finger and
rub on with fingers. Repeat on other side. Dry armpits are crucial. If you
apply immediately after getting out of the bath or shower when pores are
still wet and open, chances are you’ll be flapping around like a chicken
for a while. I prefer Dentarome, but some prefer the stouter Dentarome Plus.
If both are too hot, try the KidScents toothpaste -- my sister likes this
one.
And Dentarome has many other uses as well. I love it for poison ivy -- just
smear on a thick layer of paste (in this case you don’t want to rub it in),
let it dry and keep it on like the pink Calamine lotion. I’ve heard of others
using it for chicken pox and I have a testimony from someone who swears by
it for hemorrhoids. Talk about experimenting! The beauty of natural products
-- side effects are positive.
There are only Dentarome testimonies below, but I could have sent pages and
pages of testimonies from people who use essential oils as deodorant. If
you prefer this approach, just experiment with any of the milder oils that
turn you on -- any of them will be a step in the positive direction. Of course,
avoid the hot ones like cinnamon bark, oregano, and lemongrass. Yow!!!
And for those of you who are just too squeamish to try this, word is that
Young Living will be announcing a full line of “official” and healthy deodorants
at the convention this summer. I’ve got mixed feelings about this. While
I’m excited that they will be available (it will be much easier than convincing
people to use toothpaste) and I’ll try them just to know what they are like,
I don’t want to give-up my Dentarome.
Finally, I hope it goes without saying that you should never use the popular
store-bought brands of toothpastes under your arms, much less in your mouth.
Fluoride toothpaste is deadly stuff -- just read the warning label. Did you
know fluoride is one of the three most deadly elements? It’s right up there
with mercury and arsenic. So why is it in toothpaste? We’ll look at that
in a future “teeth” issue. Just don’t sit down and try to eat an entire tube
of your child great tasting bubble gum flavored fluoride toothpaste. Chances
are you (or your child) will be dead before you finish.
Have a great week!

DEODORANT TESTIMONIES & DISCUSSION

Subject: Dentarome as deodorant and peeling underarms
Good morning Joyous people!!
I have been using my Dentarome Plus as deodorant, and my underarms are peeling
(BAD). I mean peeling like two or three layers of skin at one time...not
painful. But really quite obnoxious. I also have
a brown circle in my underarms...about the circumference of a small dessert
plate...not ringworm or anything, jut a circle of brown skin...that is peeling
*grin*
I am alternating with Forgiveness oil and Humility oil (Dentarome one day,
oil the next) and the peeling is slowing down...but do I WANT it to? Is this
just a great cleansing reaction from using antiperspirant for fifteen years?
Thoughts?

Hi Jessica,
What you are experiencing is a detox of toxins
through the skin, a normal reaction. Consider how long you have used antiperspirants.
The degree of discoloration and/or peeling in the armpits from using Dentarome
Plus varies with everyone. I recommend you stop using Dentarome periodically,
and, as a replacement, wash underarms frequently with a gentle soap. Rinse
and dry but do not apply anything to the underarms.
I have used Dentarome Plus for two years as a deodorant now. In the beginning
I developed irregular reddened areas of skin in the underarm. When this persisted,
I stopped using Dentarome until the reddened area subsided. I then began
using the Dentarome again.
I use only a small amount (about the size of a small match head). I moisten
the underarm with warm water before application which insures wide and good
coverage of the paste. I lightly pat the underarms with a towel to remove
excess moisture. I want them damp, not wet.
After two years of use, I can report my body is still purging itself of toxins,
which I believe is normal for most people. It can take several years of cleansing
to dramatically reduce re-occurrence of reddening. I can also report I now
use the Dentarome paste for longer periods of time before noticing a re-occurrence
of skin reddening. This is how I understand the body detoxes,
not all at once but in stages.
I have not had my skin peel as you reported.

Hi Jessica, Jim and All,
I've had the brown ring, the peeling, etc. I used Myrrh (after a lot of experimenting)
which works like a charm for me. In fact, I can successfully use Myrrh by
itself for an odor free day.
All the best,
Lynn

Hi Jessica,
How about trying lavender or geranium? I know someone that used lavender
and really likes it, and has never had a problem with it irritating. I'm
thinking of trying lavender oil mixed in a little water just to disperse
it. I used the lavender floral water one day and it was nice too.
Good luck, Leslie

I was using a natural deodorant, and develop a rash. So I used some Dentarome
Plus, but it burned and did not really work through the day. Then I tried
Purification, it killed the rash, smells great in my arm pits, and lasts
all day. The best part of this is that everywhere I go, I
get compliments on how good I smell.

Dear Oilers,
I sat and listened a few weeks ago as you all talked about using Dentarome
as a deodorant. And I thought to myself. "Okay, these people have finally
lost it--the smells have gone to their heads!" And I really thought
that you were all nuts! So this morning, when my two year old found my
mineral-crystal deodorant, declared it a ball, and sent it crashing to
the floor, I was at
a loss of what to do. And you all came to mind. I grabbed my toothpaste
and applied! And worked. That was over 18 hours ago,
and it's still working! I'm so impressed! Thank God for these fabulous products
and for all of you with your experience and advice! I promise never again
to think that you're all crazy!

Dear Wendall,
When I first started to use the Dentarome Plus as deodorant it stung too,
but I hung in there because I felt that I was detoxing all
the junk I'd been putting there for years. At one point I even had a boil
like thing that hurt bad!!! But I still hung in there and I am so glad I
did! I really believe that doing so gave the toothpaste a chance to do its
work. After a few weeks the sting was much, much less, and soon none at all.
Have to tell you, my niece even experienced little balls of aluminum coming
out of her arm pits. I'm sorry, I know that's gross, but I think it's important
to share.
Good luck!

Dear Wendall,
Hang in there using Dentarome as your deodorant. My 1st experience was intense
burning and I wanted to quit also.
In the beginning to make sure your pits are dry before applying after your
shower I recommend using the lil hair drier near
the bathroom of you have one... dry the area up good, and you should be fine.
Hey if I could convert my wife (The world’s biggest skeptic) I should be
able to convert you...~smile~

Hi you brave souls,
I want you all to know that once you start using Dentarome as deodorant you
will pull out all of the aluminum stored there from using anti-perspirant. I believe I am right when I say that you detox more out of your left armpit than your right. Someone
correct me if I'm wrong. I had quite a few aluminum balls shooting out (figuratively
speaking) even up to 8 months after I began using it for deodorant. Just
remember that it is good to perspire to get those toxins out. I personally
know of three people who had breast cancer in their LEFT breast. They WERE
avid antiperspirant users.

Dear Oilers,
Reading the stories of so many brave souls who continue to use Dentarome
during the (sometimes) painful detox process is
encouraging me to switch from using geranium oil (which has been working
well) back to Dentarome toothpaste. I backed off of it a few months ago during
a weight loss/detox process that became difficult to endure. I think I
am ready to try it again. (I had been experiencing red rings around my underarms
which were painful and itchy.) Switching to geranium oil exclusively cleared
it up for me.
Joyfully yours,
Kristiina
